Artist C.V. for Brian Christopher Gibson, February 2024 Video Art & Assemblage Installation at ASAP Gallery, September 2023 For two weeks at ASAP Gallery I created video works and interacted with the gallery space; adding new layers to assemblages and experimenting with projection styles on a daily basis. The focus of the show was the premiere and continuation of my audio/visual grant funded project “In Relative Obsurity; Rhyolite, Nevada, USA”. I would say in the end it allowed me to explore the medium of sculpture & assemblage while leading me down a historical rabbit hole with Belgian Visual Artist, Albert Szukalski. FY23 Project Grant for Organizations from Nevada Arts Council, November 2023 On behalf of Non Profit Organization Goldwell Open Air Museum I wrote a successful grant proposal for their performing/visual arts showcase, Bullfrog Biennial. This marked the first time I successfully proposed a grant on behalf of a non profit organization and I look forward to future opportunities. FY23 Project Grant for Artists from Nevada Arts Council, January 2023 I was awarded a project grant for the creation of an audio/visual work entitled “In Relative Obscurity; Rhyolite, Nevada, USA”. The hour-long audio/video artwork documents Las Vegas based UNLV BFA graduate John McVay & I’s live improvisational performances from Goldwell Open Air Museum’s Red Barn Arts Center in June of 2023. Artist Residency/Solo Exhibition at INSIDE STYLE, November 2022 For the month of November I was offered the unique opportunity of taking over a storefront on Main & Charleston, in the heart of the Arts District, connected to the Interior Design firm “INSIDE STYLE”. I was able to recap the entire year of art opportunities into one month of operating an art gallery. I curated, installed, priced and marketed the exhibition, including a show opening held on the First Friday of the month. During the month I was in this location, I was able to procure 3 different reviews of the exhibition, as well as the acquisition of new collectors. Apprenticeship with Deana Khoshoba at Modern Art Concepts, October 2022 Deana Khoshaba asked me to assist her in her studio in exchange for use of half of the gallery space. During my time with her I learned a lot about her creative process and gained experience in building a large stretched canvas from scratch, as well as got a “crash course” in the fundamentals of the elements and principles of visual art as well as Abstract Expressionism Art History. It was a great honor to work so closely with her and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity. Artist Residency with The Cube LV Design Group, May – August 2022I was awarded the opportunity to visit contemporary art museums/exhibitions in London, Athens, Italy and finally; Berlin, Germany. In Berlin I was able to experiment with video art as a new medium. After returning to the states, I was given an isolated studio space located in Calico Basin, eventually showcasing the works made at The Cube LV Gallery in August, 2022, next to Berlin Bar in DTLV. FY22 American Rescue Plan Grant Individual Artists National Endowment For The Arts Awarded funding to further my understanding and experience in finishing work to better present original works in future exhibitions and spaces. This included building frames, stretching a canvas, different methods of preserving the works and various approaches to hanging hardware. MIGRATE: Wetlands Temporary Public Art Installation, 2022 In January 2022 I was selected as one of 10 artists to create site-specific sculpture work with the theme of “migration”. My first time approaching the genre of sculpture and Public Art, in general. I was very happy with the opportunity and it led me towards furthering my skills in writing proposals and thinking about applying for larger projects. Core Arts Concord Artist In Residency, 2021 In March of 2021 I was awarded CACI’s 1st Artist In Residency opportunity. I originally applied to have the possibility to work on large scale artworks in a legitimate setting. During the 3 week stay at Core Contemporary Gallery I was able to successfully begin working in a larger format. |
