Review Journal Writer Jason Bracelin bought this artwork from me in 2021, just before my exhibition at Arts Factory in the same room that belonged to Las Vegas Painter Alexander P. Huerta. The money made from this painting sale was used to buy supplies and promote the event, which was honestly a big deal for me, and always is every time I am lucky enough to have it happen.
It is a portrait photo of New York City I bought from Ross with the specific intention of painting over it. I was very limited in my space/ability to paint at the time I painted in in 2020, and I think I sort of “sweat out” that anxiety my living situation was giving me back then. At the time, I believe late August of 2020; I was doing a local music podcast called “Dirty Window” and waiting for my first son to be born. I had a lot to express.
It’s honestly insane how the next year of my life turned out in terms of my goals and overall achievements in the local arts community I didn’t feel a part of for so long before this. It was only when I stopped worrying about how my self or work was perceived that I was able to approach Visual Art / Painting in the way that I do now; unabashedly.
I’m sure I will expand on this general topic in a later post.
Thanks for reading.
